Symbolism & Imagery:
The Queen of Pentacles sits on her throne, engraved with goats, angels, and fruit. The fruit is pears, a fruit of wealth and privilege. The angels signify her guides watching over her, and the goat is another signifier of wealth.
The Queen of Pentacles holds with both hands one Pentacle or Coin. She looks down on it lovingly. This shows her nurturing her wealth, working for it. She is not a woman of leisure; she is a woman who works for her financial success.
The queen’s feet are both firmly planted on the ground, and her shoes are the same color as the earth, which tells us how connected she is to the planet and the element of earth.
Furthermore, her veil is green, the color that represents the element of earth, connecting her even more to her earthliness. Notice how it drapes from her crown (and crown chakra) to the ground. It touches every part of her body as it anchors her to the planet. This queen is undeniably one with the earth.
At the queen’s feet, a rabbit appears, symbolizing fertility. This does not necessarily mean a pregnancy but rather more likely points to the fertility of the work she does. She produces results, tangible results, in her house and her work.
The Queen of Pentacles wears a red dress, signifying her ambition in the workplace and home. She is fiery and motivated; she gets things done, whether it’s at home or at work.
Behind the queen are blue mountains and lush, green flowers. The blue shows her ability to connect to her subconscious, a vital skill towards growing into The Empress. The green flowers, of course, tie her further to the earth, as if you needed more symbols to tell you that!
The sky is yellow, which connects this queen to the superconscious. It also represents the element of air and, therefore, higher consciousness. This tells you she has a great mental understanding; she is intelligent and educated.
Finally, the Queen of Pentacles is bordered with pomegranates, another symbol of fertility. Again, this does not necessarily mean a literal baby but rather the metaphorical babies produced by a well-constructed and balanced life. It could represent results at work, for example, or watching family members and friends thrive under her care.
